Iridium Certus 200 delivers upload and download speeds up to 176 Kbps, through small, lightweight, low-power equipment.

Data speeds of 176 Kbps mean that Certus 200 devices can be used for basic internet use, tracking, and voice communication. Because it’s a low bandwidth service, antennas are small and lightweight, and don’t need a lot of power to operate. And because it’s Iridium, with its mesh network of 66 satellites constantly circling the globe, you get 100% global coverage, even at the polar regions.

  • Overage charges are billed monthly in arrears at the rate specified in the service plan
  • Early termination fees will be automatically charged for any subscription terminated within the minimum commitment term

Iridium Certus 200 Coverage Map

Iridium Certus 200 uses the Iridium constellation of 66 active satellites in Low Earth Orbit (LEO), with nine in-orbit spares. This provides L-band connectivity anywhere on Earth with a clear view of the sky – including the polar regions. L-band is one of the most stable frequency bands, and doesn’t suffer from ‘rain fade’, so you’ll get both clear voice services and a stable internet connection.

Iridium completed an upgrade of their entire network in 2019, so while Iridium has been providing services since 2002, the satellites themselves are new and very high-tech. It’s because of the upgrade that services like Certus 200 are now available. Users benefit from low latency (<1 second), global communications, a stable connection at land or sea, and high levels of security and reliability.
