The Ground Control Remote Control panel connects with a single cable from
directly from the dish. It may be located anywhere in the vehicle, but it is
recommend that it be placed near or on the dashboard for easy access.

The Magellan is normally ALWAYS ON because of auto stow routines that will stow
the dish if it is up. However the Power Light on the Remote Control panel may not
be lit. Pressing POWER will automatically reset the Magellan (which takes about
10 seconds).

Here is how to use the Remote Control Panel.

  1. If the Power Light is OFF, press the power button.
  2. Wait for the lights to stop blinking
  3. Press on Find Satellite. The dish will go up, and lock on satellite.

To Stop the dish from moving, press "Stop".
To Stow the dish... Press on "Stow".

Remember, the POWER button will reset the Magellan when it is turned on. It
takes about 10 seconds for it to reboot. (The Direcway Modem takes about 90
seconds to reboot).

If problems occure, turn off the power bar, and turn it back on. It will take about
90 seconds for the system to reboot.
The Magellan stows to a hight of just under 13 inches.

3. The Linksys Wireless Router
Each Magellan ships with a Cisco Linksys Wireless Router. The router allows direct connection to the Magellan Network via Ethernet, or by wireless connection if the computer has a wireless card. Note on the diagram on the right, the DW6000 connects directly to the Linksys "Internet" port. There are 4 other ports, one of which the dish electronics connect to. Other computers may connect to the 3 open ports. (You may also add a switch or hub to connect more computers to the network).
Below is a wiring diagram of the Magellan MSS. Notice that a computer does
not need to be connected to this system in order for the MSS to operate.
