Many VPN solutions will slow a connection to a crawl over satellite because they are not designed to handle the intrinsic long latency unavoidable with satellite. The Encore Bandit II and the Encore VSR-1200 VPN pair deliver superior speeds over satellite with a minimal performance loss of 5 to 15% against non-VPN connections. See Performance Chart. The Bandit appliance will tunnel to an identical Bandit, or it can connect to the VSR-1200 which can handle up to 1200 simultaneous VPN sessions. Both devices have feature rich tools and are both are a time tested proven solution for high security VPN over satellite.

Standard Star Topology Network
On our Star Topology iDirect services, there is no special provisioning required to integrate the Encore VPN solution into an existing terrestrial network.

Other Satellite Network Offerings Ground Control

Expanding an existing network to include satellite is fairly straight forward, but never the same for any organization. Our sales engineers will answer any questions you have so that we can help you achieve your objectives on time and under budget.

Total Private Satellite Network

A Total Private Network (TPN) uses a leased line from the corporate server directly to the satellite NOC, where the connection to client sites is secured through a variety of methods.
The iDirect 5000 series iNfiniti router, includes powerful AES Link Encryption.

Point-to-Point or Point-to-Multi-Point Private Network

A Point-to-Point network will avoid any terrestrial link connection (such as a leased line). Both the client sites and the corporate server are connected via satellite at the NOC. While this is a very secure network, it will double the latency because data must travel twice as many times to the orbiting satellite. Mesh networks (below) may be a good alternative.Point To Point Satellite Network

Mesh Topology & Hybrid Satellite Networks
A Mesh Network uses the orbiting satellite as a router in space, avoiding routing through the Earth based NOC and reducing latency to the absolute minimum possible for ANY satellite communication. Mesh networks are also inherently secure over terrestrial networks. A Hybrid network could consists of both Star and Mesh topologies where dish-to-dish communication is desired, but also a link to the NOC for a high-speed Internet connection.
